We know well how important is to choose the right food during a trekking excursion. Of course, a good lunch in a mountain hut can always be good, but if we are speaking about long distance and not easy paths, then we need to be careful about what we eat. I will always remember how hard it was to make the uphill after a huge lunch in the mountain hut Venegiota on the Pale di San Martino 🙁
In order to avoid this type of problems I have already spoken to you about Bivo, a food product which is ideal for trekking and which provides an optimal nutritional solution, complete balanced and healthy. In fact, Bivo is able to provide you a good quantity of calories (449 kcal) with a little more than 100 gr of powder to be dissolved in water, allowing your body to feed and hydrate at the same time.
What struck me more when I tried for the first time is that Bivo is quick to prepare, since in just 30 seconds you open the packet, pour the content in the shaker, add 300 ml of water, shake it and you are ready to go in every place and situation. For whom, like me, is always late at preparing on Sunday morning the packed lunch at home it is really ideal as a trekking food, but it is ideal also in the situations where there is no mountain hut or any other place, in this case you can have a quick break, rehydrate and then continue the excursion.
Bivo is the only product of its category to provide the same nutritional proportions of the Mediterranean Diet, with 52% of carbohydrates, 22% of fats, 17% of proteins and fibers.
In the last months a new version of Bivo has been launched, Bivo 2.0.
From 685 kcal of the first product they passed to the current 440 kcal, because who used the product during the lunch break at work wanted to be lighter, while trekking enthusiasts preferred to have smaller packets and decide how much to eat. So they changed the packaging too, with resealable packets, and new version with mango, coconut and natural.
Still fundamental is oat flour, source of carbohydrates with a low glycemic index, that assure slow releasing energy for a long time, and maltodextrin, a powder which is obtained from corn and that is able to provide immediately energy during any activity. Lowering the quantity of ground flaxseeds and introducing a process of cold milling, they obtained a finer powder, improving in this way the solubility of the product. The result is a texture which is similar to a milkshake, a lot more tasty compared to the previous version.
Among the trekking food that I have tried Bivo is by far the most complete from a nutritional and caloric point of view, including all the main vitamins and mineral salts that your body needs during a trekking excursion.
From now on it is always in my backpack: in the mountain you never know how an excursion can evolve, and having with you an emergency solution is really a fundamental factor for a healthy and tasty trekking.
