The importance of the Made in Italy for Bivo

After having created the first “home made” version of Bivo (see our story on Why Bivo was born), we decided to develop a marketable product, with the aim to spread our idea of smart, sustainable and non conventional nutrition. In that moment, more than two years ago, the Bivo project has been really starting.

Among the values on which our mission was founded we insert the “Made in Italy” feature, which was for us a fundamental aspect that should have characterized Bivo.

We started to contact food companies that could help us realize our dream, providing us the raw materials we needed.

First we contacted the companies from our territory (the Veneto region). We almost immediately realized that the word “start-up” (universally used around the world) created a weird situation with the companies, and every time our dialogue interrupted a little after it started. In general all Italian companies treated us with great skepticism, bouncing us from an office to another one, and dealing with us as we were just kids with lots of spare time playing business. A big Italian food company even refuse to meet because Ovidia Food Srl (the name of our company) was not present in the Pagine Bianche (i.e. White Pages: old paper phone book).

At that point, tired of feeling played around, we decided to contact some foreign companies.

We understood immediately something pretty obvious: foreign companies were listening to us and were available to give us what we needed to start our adventure with Bivo.

Probably in other countries the attitude is more open to innovations and even big companies were not scared with the idea of supplying a young company with an innovative idea.

We could have started more easily, faster and with lower expenses if we chose to produce Bivo in Germany or in the Netherlands.

We really wanted Bivo to be made in Italy and we did not give up until we found who was willing to listen to us and to believe in our idea. We managed to do it at the end, with countless efforts, and for that reason we can say that Bivo is a product proudly Made in Italy.

Why an innovative company, like ours, cares so much to produce in Italy, when many others don’t hesitate to produce and move abroad?

The reason is simple: we believe that, even though there is a general closed attitude towards innovations and excessive skepticism about new ideas, Italy is an extraordinary country.

In the food sector nobody in the world can assure the same level of production quality, of attention to food security and to the defense of the consumer, like Italian companies producing in Italy.

We want to continue to develop Bivo and we want to do it in our Country.

This is true even if it takes effort, some closed door in our face and some fake smiles.

This is true because we believe in Bivo and in its values, which founded our idea. The same values in which our customers, who everyday support us, believe. The same customers we will never stop thanking.
