THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TREKKING ROUTES TO BE MADE IN THE AUTUMN SEASON
Those who love the mountains, their unique atmosphere and the sensations that emanate know that there is no season in particular to appreciate it. Continuing then in the furrow traced from the last articles in which we have suggested some of the most beautiful trekking paths Italian we decided to select some walk to do in the autumn season. Of course it is not about walks that can be done exclusively in Autumn but in this season can give special emotions that are worth living.
The journey of St. Francis
One of the routes that we will certainly talk about in the next chapters of our column in search of the most beautiful trekking routes in Italy is the journey of St. Francis. The northern part of this route, between Tuscany and Umbria, requires 9 days of walking to complete but, obviously, it is not necessary to cover it all at once. To fully enjoy the beautiful autumn landscapes that these places can give you, we recommend starting from the Sanctuary of La Verna, a mystical place also for the silence from which it is surrounded.

Bordaglia lake
Let’s move to Carnia. Here is an itinerary that goes from Passo Cason di Lanza to Casera Pramosio, winding between the mountains that form the border between Italy and Austria. It is a circular route that winds around Forni Avoltri and touches the Tolazzi, Lambertenghi Romanin and Marinelli refuges to take us to the discovery of the Bordaglia lake.

The trekking of the Casentinesi Forests
On the border between Romagna and Tuscany we want to propose the trekking of the Casentinesi Forests. These are simple walks and suitable for the whole family that will allow you to immerse yourself in the woods that in this season are colored in an absolutely unique and special way. The pride of this excursion proposal is the hermitage of Camaldoli, a monastic complex founded almost a thousand years ago by San Romualdo and which still today hosts 9 hermits.

The eight paths of the Latemar
Do you want to enjoy a spectacular view of the autumn Dolomite landscape? All you have to do is go to Obereggen, not far from Cavalese and Moena, take the Oberholz chairlift and then take one of the eight paths with which you can reach the Latemar viewing platform, 360 ° to 2100 meters high from which to marvel in the alpine world surrounding.
Oasis Zegna
Those who live in the city know that gray and smog cause people to feel melancholy that can last a long time. So that if you live in Milan, Turin or surroundings you can not not find a day to visit the Oasis Zegna. This oasis, located in the province of Biella, is characterized by routes of different levels of difficulty. However, to enjoy the spectacle of the foliage in all its majesty we recommend the Bosco del Sorriso, a ring of about 5 km also suitable for children.

The paths of the irrigation ditches
The irrigation ditches, called in German Waalwege, are narrow water channels typical of the Val Venosta used by farmers a few centuries ago to irrigate the fields on both sides of Mount Sole and Mount Tramontana. The paths are about twenty, walkable throughout the year, but that this season can offer beautiful views of both the mountain ranges and the surrounding valleys.

Val Malenco
A single day of trekking and a few hours available for walking? We recommend the ring trail that begins and ends at the Zoia refuge, in Valtellina in the Malenco Valley. The route will take you through the Campagneda pass, the Scalino lace with its glacier, the Gera hydroelectric reservoir, the Confinale pass and the Poschiavina valley. The tour is particularly fascinating from the point of view of the landscape because you can admire the ponds and the typical Campagneda and Valle Poschiavina pastures.

Sanctuary of Madonna del Monte – island of Elba
If you have a few more days and you intend to visit the island of Elba you can not miss the Tuscan Archipelago National Park. Among the hiking trails of this beautiful park we suggest a night walk on the path to the Madonna del Monte Sanctuary. The departure of the excursion takes place in the late afternoon accompanied by a guide and surrounded by the typical smells of the Mediterranean scrub in Autumn that gradually become more intense because they are amplified by darkness.
The green train in Sardinia
But fascinating trekking routes are not just a prerogative of the regions of northern Italy. In Sardinia it is possible to admire the most hidden and wild nature on board a little train that travels on old sections with narrow gauge rails. Among the most fascinating routes we recommend the one that leads from Palau to Tempio Pausania from which you can leave for walks immersed in the oak woods that alternate with glimpses on the splendid coasts even in this season.

Path to Monte Nero
Another island and another railway: the Circumetnea Railway with which you can get to Mount Etna. With these trains you can admire the spectacular landscapes that give the slopes of the volcano this season. The Nature Trail at Monte Nero degli Zappini is a loop about 4km long and is the first trekking trail built in Sicily (in 1991) during which you can stop at 11 observation points before reaching the top from which you can see Recent and ancient lava fields and the woods below.
