What will be the first hiking route you will make after the lockdown?
Our habits have been upset this year by the Corona-Virus. Everything we used to do, our passions and hobbies have been influenced by this damned COVID-19.
But we are sure that your desire for trekking in these days of forced rest will be skyrocketed dreaming of snowy peaks, endless horizons and pristine landscapes.
This is why we have decided to offer you the 5 Paths that Gazzetta Active has chosen for its readers. What better selection than that made by the most important Italian sports newspaper?
These are five little-known routes, equally distributed on a geographical basis (one in the north, one in the center, one in the south and two in the major islands) suitable for everyone. They are truly unique and particular Paths that, in our outdoor section, we have not had the opportunity to offer you.
1-Way of Oropa: 4 stages of increasing difficulty ranging in length from 16 to 20 kilometers. The departure is in Santhià in the province of Vercelli; the arrival at the Sanctuary of Oropa. The Way of Oropa in Piedmont for the first two days will make you beat the paths of the Via Francigena. Then instead, you walk on the hiking network of the great crossing of the Biella area to go up the greenhouse of Ivrea. This route will give you the opportunity to discover the sanctuaries of Graglia, Oropa and Brughiera through various and enchanting landscapes both from the point of view of nature and of spirituality and history.
2-Way of the Holy Face: 7 stages and a total length of 152 kilometers. Departure to Pontremoli and arrival in Lucca. This path will allow you to cross Tuscany and appreciate the Lunigiana, the green Garfagnana and the Middle Serchio Valley as well as the fabulous Apuan Alps. The arrival of this path is within the ancient walls of Lucca, in the Cathedral of San Martino to admire the Holy Statue, the desired destination of this journey.
3-The Way of the Brigands: 7 stages and a total length of about 100 kilometers at altitudes between 800 and 1300 meters. The stages retrace the footsteps of the Brigands of the Banda di Cartore between the Val de Varri, the Valle del Salto and the slopes of Monte Velino. It is a circular route that starts and ends in Tagliacozzo in the province of L’Aquila which will make you appreciate the dense characteristic woods of Marsica and Cicolano on the border between Lazio and Abruzzo.
Of course, we cannot fail to remind you that on your treks it is always good to bring Bivo, the innovative outdoor food made in Italy with you. The only food that can supply energy to your body and re-hydrate you at the same time.
4-The Way of the 100 Towers. It is a route with numbers that make you shiver and the adrenaline feeling that only the start of a path can give: 1284 km of Sardinian coast, 105 towers, 88 municipalities and 450 km of beaches. Sixty days of walking suspended between the wonderful sea of Sardinia and its unexplored mountain. You will be able to climb to the top of hills that are less than 2 kilometers from the sea and enjoy the breathtaking landscapes.
5-The Way of the Friars of the Madonie. It is a 166-kilometer path to be covered in 8 stages at an altitude of around 1900 meters in the footsteps of the Sicilian friars who moved from Caltanissetta to Cefalù. During these stages, the wayfarer will have the opportunity to visit important places of unique faith such as Castel Belici and the Marian shrines of Gibilmanna and Alto and enchanting and characteristic natural places of the Sicilian mountain.
Have you decided which path is right for you? No? At the end of the lockdown, there is probably still a bit of time to do it, of course staying in shape with Bivo waiting to put the boots back on.
