World trend in foodtech – Personalized nutrition

In a previous article we included the theme of foodtech (https://www.completefood.it/en/world-trend-foodtech/), giving a brief summary of the main areas in which the most innovative food companies in the world they are working.

Let’s talk about the Personal Nutrition sector today.

The nutritional needs of each individual are different. They can change significantly based on gender, age, metabolism, lifestyle and other factors.

This is one of the reasons why we, with Bivo, do not advise any of our basic customers of their own food supplied on our product (although this would be absolutely possible, as Bivo is a complete food in every respect). Precisely because every person has different needs we have developed a balanced product, balanced according to the nutritional proportions of the Mediterranean Diet, which can replace a meal during the day (breakfast, lunch, dinner) or which could be used in outdoor sports. However, we do not claim to create a product that can meet the needs of each person’s meal, either because good nutrition also passes through variety or because each of us has different needs.

Consumer demand is evolving towards the personalization of nutrition.

We believe in the best way to get the right advice on the subject of nutrition and to consult a nutritionist (of this we have written several times in our blog).

Today, however, thanks to new technologies it is possible to receive personalized advice and solutions even without a direct relationship with a professional. It is a world still in its infancy, but there are many innovative companies that have started working to offer the right nutrition for each individual.

Some examples?

Take a look at Nutrifix (https://nutrifix.co/) who works in England and the rest of the UK with companies interested in improving their employees’ nutrition during their lunch break. Nutrifix uses its own “Employees Nutrition Platform” to deliver its service. The company takes care of creating nutritional plans for the employees of the client companies, selecting the right dishes for the right person using their own algorithm, based on precise input required from the employee (age, sex, nutritional objectives, etc.). The platform recommends the right kind of lunch and where to buy it (as a restaurant), dealing directly with receiving orders and having the meal delivered to the workplace.

As for Italy, we got to know an interesting reality: FeatFood (https://www.featfood.it/). With a focus especially on sports-loving people, FeatFood works directly with consumers to offer personalized nutrition to be delivered to their homes via their subscription service.
